Our Baby is 8 Months-Old!

This past month has flown by. Here are a few pictures of our little man! He is growing so much. He continues to be a very inquisitive and active little boy. Carson is sleeping all through the night consistently (unless he is sick:() He takes 2-3 naps a day ranging from 45 minutes to 3 hours. Carson puts a huge smile on our faces everyday. I am so thankful to have him in my life!

Carson eating his first crackers. He has been a great eater up until the past few weeks. He is now selectively eating grean beans, peas, squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, applesauce, pears, bananas, rice cereal, baby puffs, crackers, and Mum Mums. He is able to drink water from a cup. He does not like avacadoes and mangos.

Carson showing off our one and only tomato of the season! It wasn't even edible. Maybe next year!

Carson is chewing on everything and has been for months, but no teeth yet!

Our sweet little boy playing with his toys at Mimi and Pop's house.

Carson started crawling Monday night. It is more like an army crawl. He kicks out his foot to make him go!

This little boy has loved having his Daddy home for the summer! He loves watching everything he does and "helping" whenever possible. Here he is hoping to help Daddy pick out songs to lead at church!

Carson hasn't started pulling up on furniture, but with a little help he is able to hold on while standing.

We have reached the stage where everything looks interesting. And...if it looks interesting...somebody's got to have it! Just look at that face!

"I'm gonna get it."

Today, Carson celebrates his 8-month birthday with his first sickness. Last night after his fever crept up to 102.7 and the little man could not be comforted. We hopped in the car to go to the urgent care center. Thankfully, those parental instincts kicked in because his temperature was near 103 when we got there and that sad little face was breaking his Mommy's heart. He ended up having an ear infection. So, now he is on antibiotics, Tylenol, Motrin, and ear numbing drops. Here is one sick little boy with a very loving Daddy!

Soaking Up Some Sun: Sandestin, FL

This past week, we were blessed with getting to go experience God's creation of the beach and the ocean. Carson was a trooper the whole trip. He endured about 30 hours in the car total, a lot of sunshine, and little kinks in his everyday schedule!

Carson's first time to see the ocean! He has heard it ever since he came home from the hospital. (on his noise maker) Thanks, Mimi and Pop, for taking all of us to the beach! It was a blast!

Carson's first time to see and feel the sand! He wasn't sure what to think!

"Pop said that I could watch cartoons since we were on vacation!"

I just love this picture. Could God have made it any more beautiful? (This was taken before the crowds:))

"I'm on VACATION!"

What could Carson possibly be smiling at????

His DADDY! (No, Brandon doesn't typically wear these to swim!)

We tried everything to keep cool at the beach!

Our inquisitive little cowboy!

This is Carson's favorite activity right now...walking, walking, and more walking!

Well, we knew it would happen! It was just a matter of time and opportunity! Here is Carson eating the sand!

"Ride a little zebra...go to town..." (Carson loved the zebra! Just excuse the tu-tu that it is wearing!)

And now for mommy's belated birthday gift...family pictures!

My Daddy's Hand

Brandon,
The past couple of days, I have been thinking about what Carson would want you to know this first Father's Day. While I was pregnant, I came across this poem. The words are so simple but so meaningful. I know he can't yet verbalize exactly what he is thinking, but a lot can be said with a smile. And that smile that he shares with you when you walk into the room is simply priceless. We love you beyond measure! Happy first Father's Day and Happy 30th birthday!

MY DADDY'S HAND
Daddy, Take my hand in yours and you will plainly see,
How very much I need you now to love and care for me.
As my little hand grows, I will need you even more,
Everything I do in life, I have never done before.
Teach me to be kind and loving, sharing and forgiving,
Show me through your acts of love the pure joy of living.
The years will pass by quickly and one day I will be grown,
I will pass what you have taught me onto children of my own.
Hold me always in your thoughts and remember when we are apart,
The special love between a child and a daddy's heart.

Love you!
RL and Carson

Friends and Family

This past week and a half have been a time of lots of friends and family. We are so blessed to have such wonderful Christian examples in our life. These are just a few pictures of the people that mean so much to us!

Last weekend, we were able to go visit the Hubbards, our friends from Harding. Harper and Carson are about 6 weeks apart.
