A Thousand Reasons to Be Thankful

Growing up, holidays have always been a big deal!  They all revolve around family and food!  I can remember many Thanksgivings and Christmas' where my Mima ran the kitchen and all of the girls were given specific jobs (aka dishes) to cook.  The younger girls were given jobs of vegetable trays and fruit salad while the more mature ladies were given the dressing.  (That's you, Tammy!)  We would all meet at Mima and Papa's house and cook together.  There was constant nagging and messing with each other, but it was all out of love.  Mima's kitchen was a small, galley style space.  She had one oven, one electric stove, a small dish washer, a plain coffee maker, and the dressing cooker.  Many memories were made in that place that I will cherish forever!  Now it is on to creating memories for my sweet children.  I have no idea what traditions will stick in their minds but my hope is that it will always involve family.  Papa, Mima, and Bob Bob are very much missed by this family, but I hope that their legacy lives on as we gather for these special holidays.  Tammy, Mima would be proud of the dressing with just the right balance of onions and sage!

Time for a break!

Happy 4th Birthday, Carson!

This year, Carson celebrated his 4th birthday with friends and family at one of his favorite places, The Cube.  The day was filled with lots of love and doughnuts.  He chose the Handy Manny theme after changing his mind from having a dog party at the dog park.  Yes, dogs were going to be invited!  Thankfully the last minute change to an indoor setting paid off because the weather was rainy and cold!  Thank you all for being such a blessing to Carson and taking time out of your busy schedule to be present for his special day!  We love you all so much!!!

Of course we had to get doughnuts from Hall's Doughnuts!  Pink iced are our family's favorite!

Carson giving a big "Thank you" to all of the friends and family!  Each of the friends contributed money to help by a cow through Christian Relief Fund to help families in need.  Ms. Amy at Heritage made his day by sending him a cow ornament and making a felt cow for the board at church as a reminder of his generosity.

Trunk or Treat!

After a fun day celebrating baby Jase's 1st birthday, Kylie, Carson, Mimi, Grandmother, Uncle Danny, Brandon, Daddy, and Mommy were able to go enjoy more fun at the Heritage Trunk or Treat!  It was an unexpectantly warm day, but we had lots of fun!

Can I help you with your pumpkin?

Each year, our church hosts their own pumpkin patch.  It is open to everyone to come explore and buy pumpkins.  I love that the church lets anyone have a pumpkin even those that can't afford one.  What a blessing it is to serve in the Kingdom of God!  In the pictures below, Carson lovingly helped others take their pumpkins to their car to help share God's love.  We love this boy's heart!

The Pumpkin Farm 2014

It is one of our favorite times of the year.  We live very close to a pumpkin farm, which is not very common living in the city.  Each year, we watch as the farmer plants the corn.  This is a sign that it is almost time.  This year, we have gone at least 7 times!  It is sad that it is only open for 1 month.  I will miss the day that this isn't fun anymore, but for now we will cherish every moment!!
