Celebrating 16 months!

At the end of each month, I am reminded of all of the blessings that God has so richly blessed us with. This month is no different. Our greatest blessing is that Pop, Brandon's dad, is now cancer free! After a successful surgery, the results came in today, and there are no more cancer cells. We are so thankful for Pop, and the joy that he brings our little man! Also, this month we moved into our new house. We have basically lived outside these first two weeks!

This past month, we have also been blessed to watch our little boy grow! Every day, he is such a joy to be around. We have our moments, but I just love that moment when he figures out something new. He now has 4 teeth on the top and two on the bottom. More are trying to fight their way through. He is saying or attempting to say new words each day! "Buffalo" was one of the new ones! Crazy! Carson went to stay with Granna, Grandy, and KK over spring break while we moved. He seemed to have had a great time, but I can't even tell you how much I missed him. Thankfully, we were super busy so my mind was occupied. Carson is continuing to be a great eater, but has started rejecting some things. He continues to love turkey, cheese, avacado, fruit, milk, yogurt, and black beans. He has a "little" belly on him to prove it!

Here are some pictures of our precious little boy:)

These are the eggs that Carson dyed with Grandy, Granna, and KK. Lets just say one of them ended up in his mouth, and EVERYTHING turned blue!

Carson has loved exploring in his new backyard. He is very interested in shelling all of the acorns! Let's just say that he has lots of work to do!

Carson loves the new swingset. I have to say that I do too! It is nothing fancy...but just look at this smile!

This was Carson's last day at his first house. This is where we took pictures of when we brought him home from the hospital. Man, how time flies! We are excited about all of the new memories that will be made in our new place!

Here Carson is helping his mommy open her birthday presents. I already received my most precious gift!

15 months-old

Well, for the first time in 15 months, I just realized that I didn't take many pictures this month. This month has flown by and everyday I watch Carson learn something new. Today, he learned that Mommy keeps cool things stored under the bed. So...Carson decided to drag it all out. It didn't add much to the clutter as we are in the process of moving so boxes are starting to stack up, and the things you don't know how to pack are just making there way to the corner. This month we were blessed with the visit from my college roommate and her husband, Kelly and Craig. I can't thank them enough for putting up with us. During the week they were here, we bought a house, sold a house, and cared for a sick baby! Not sure it was much of a vacation for them, but for me, it was such a blessing to have extra hands. You know you have great friends when they will hop up off the couch and start taking out toys, lighting candles, opening blinds, turning on lights, putting away all of their luggage, and doing it with a smile when a potential buyer was about to be at the house. God has blessed me so richly. We were all sad to see them go and little Carson had obviously gotten used to them "living" here. On the Monday morning after they left, I opened the guest room door. He ran in there, looked around, opened the closet door, and then came and looked at me with a very puzzled look and lots of sounds. He may not have had the words, but I have no doubt he was looking for his friends.

This month, Carson has his front top two teeth in and is getting at least 2 others if not more. He is growing daily, especially in the belly. He loves to eat! He had grapes for the first time yesterday, and you would have thought it was his birthday. He loves trying new things. For the first time this week, he also had lasagna. He loved it! My favorite thing this month is that he is singing. He sings his version of "Clean up", "B-I-B-L-E" and "Old McDonald". No he doesn't have all of the words, but he does have some, and he has the tune. Carson has also started to climb this month. He has figured out how to get on his stool, stand up, and get various objects off of the changing table. So...here is the little man. The first pictures are of him in the backyard. It has been so nice outside so we have taken advantage of it. He is still not sure what to think of grass, but other than that he LOVES staying outdoors!

14 Months-Old

I just love this age! Carson is learning something new everyday, and it just amazes me! He loves playing, music, being outside, and being around people. He continues to make me laugh everyday. Here are some of his "accomplishments" this past month! Enjoy:)

This past weekend, we were able to go visit my parents to celebrate my mom's birthday! Here is Carson after church playing with his front-end loader!

Since we have had some nice weather, we have been able to spend more time outside. Carson LOVES watching the other children at the park and interacting with them.

This month Carson has started imitating everything and following commands. He is starting to do a great job picking up "some" toys. Here he is helping mom with the vacuuming.

Carson has his own little area to cook! Here he is coming up with a gourmet meal!

Carson's new favorite love is to go get the mail in his wagon. Here daddy is on his way back to the house with the little man. Looks like we are going to have to get a bigger wagon soon!

Carson is a great eater. He loves berries, especially strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. His other favorite is bread. As we were walking around Central Market a few weeks ago, he saw someone getting a sample of bread. All he could say was "bread...bread...bread...bread" over and over! The only things I can't get him to eat are pasta, pizza, and any kind of red meat.

Carson still only has his two bottom teeth. This is the best picture that I have of them. He is drooling like crazy so I figure more are on their way.

10 Year Anniversary!

On December 29th, Brandon and I celebrated 10 years of marriage. It is amazing how fast 10 years can pass by! At our wedding rehearsal, many of our guests wrote letters and placed these in a time capsule. Last Thursday night, Brandon and I read them for the first time. I can't even tell you the anticipation it brought wondering who the next letter would be from. We laughed. We cried. We remembered. I am thankful for the last 10 years with my high school sweatheart. We have had many ups and downs that have all been part of a journey leading to now. Although I wish I could erase some, God has used every event in our life to lead us to a road toward Him. So...to my husband...I love you more than you will ever know. I love the way you share God's love with Carson and I. I love the way you can make me smile. I love the way you love others. I love the we that we have become. I look forward to the next 10 years and beyond!

Christmas with the Thurmon's

I know everyone has their favorite thing about Christmas. As a child, I would have told you the presents, but now it means oh so much more. I have so many vivid memories of Christmas Eve and Christmas morning and few of them revolve around any present I received. Most of them include singing (out of tune) as a family a Christmas carol or two, telling the year to the camera (and often leaving out a number), smelling smoke by the tree (one of the younger cousin's baby doll was melting on a spotlight), cooking in the kitchen with all of my favorite "chefs", decorating cookies with just the girls, walking down the hall to be on the video camera every Christmas morning (except this year), and the list goes on and on. My ongoing Christmas wish is that Carson will be able to write his own book of Christmas memories that revolve around a family that truly knows what love is...

The tree...oh this tree holds sooooo many memories. Literally, everything is on that tree!

Sometimes the best things in life just go unspoken. Here is one of those times. You had to be there to understand. We will let the pictures speak for themselves. Imagine me gasping for air as you view them (especially the last one!).

Who needs toys when you can have a box???

The stockings...Mom handmade each one of these when we were little. Last year, she added two new names to the family so all of ours got a little makeover.

Carson has a new love of laundry baskets! Whether it is taking a ride in one or putting one on his head, he thinks they are the greatest toy!
