Growing up, holidays have always been a big deal! They all revolve around family and food! I can remember many Thanksgivings and Christmas' where my Mima ran the kitchen and all of the girls were given specific jobs (aka dishes) to cook. The younger girls were given jobs of vegetable trays and fruit salad while the more mature ladies were given the dressing. (That's you, Tammy!) We would all meet at Mima and Papa's house and cook together. There was constant nagging and messing with each other, but it was all out of love. Mima's kitchen was a small, galley style space. She had one oven, one electric stove, a small dish washer, a plain coffee maker, and the dressing cooker. Many memories were made in that place that I will cherish forever! Now it is on to creating memories for my sweet children. I have no idea what traditions will stick in their minds but my hope is that it will always involve family. Papa, Mima, and Bob Bob are very much missed by this family, but I hope that their legacy lives on as we gather for these special holidays. Tammy, Mima would be proud of the dressing with just the right balance of onions and sage!
